In a telling display of incredible consistency, Accumoto Motorsport's Mark White continued a post race celebration streak with his 5th and 6th consecutive Imsa Lites L2 podiums during the New England Grand Prix weekend at Lime Rock Park.
White, of Madison, WI, finished 1st in round five and 3rd in round six continuing a run that brought his series history to a stunning 11 L2 podiums in 14 starts. When asked to comment on race five of the twelve round series he replied; "This is by far the best race I have had in the series so far. We've had a ton of podiums and this is the first time we have stood on the top step, which is fantastic! I can't say enough how well the Accumoto team did on the setup and the prep on the car. I want to thank my sponsors Accumoto Motorsport, Throttle Threads.com, Duraform, Ltd. and two that just came on board, Team Janica Racing and PerformanceDrink. We couldn't have done it without them!" Mark continued. "Robby [Card] and I had great race. I think we were together for about seventeen laps, so I hope the crowd enjoyed it as much as we did. White went on to add a personal note, "I would like to dedicate this race win to my father. He passed away when we were traveling to this race last year so it means a lot to me to come away with the win."
Not only did White get past Card at the midway point of the first race of the weekend for the victory, he also set the fastest L2 lap of the race at 52.2 seconds subsequently setting a track record in the process. The second race had a decidely different pace as White jumped out to an early lead and was maintaining a 14 second gap to Card when a mechanical issue forced him to the 3rd place finish.
The weekend left White and Card tied for the lead in the L2 championship. They will meet again for rounds 7 and 8 at the Grand Prix of Mosport on August 25th and 26th in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada.
